What does IMAP mean?
Back to emailIMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol for synchronizing e-mail.
By using this protocol you are viewing the e-mail on the server, so to speak. If you have your e-mail account on multiple devices (both mobile and fixed computers) you will see the same folder structure.
When you delete a message, the message is deleted on the server and you won't see the message again on other devices either. The reverse is also true. When you receive a message it is visible on all devices.
The default port for the IMAP protocol is port 143.
